Alternative Healing III – Homeopathy
Please note that I’ve decided to rename this series of posts about “healing” to Alternative Healing instead of Self-healing, because it more accurately describes the overall subject matter (i.e., the use of healing modalities other than conventional Allopathic medicine). Unfortunately, I cannot go back and rename the first two posts in the series because if I do they will be automatically delivered to subscribers again.
With that said, in today’s post I want to talk about my experiences with the use of homeopathy as a healing aid. Homeopathy (or homeopathic medicine), is a holistic system of treatment that was founded in the late eighteenth century. The name homeopathy is derived from two Greek words that mean "like disease." The system is rooted in the concept that substances that produce symptoms of sickness in healthy people will have a curative effect when given in very dilute quantities to sick people who exhibit those same symptoms. Homeopathic remedies are believed to stimulate the body's own healing processes.
A few months into my chronic dental infection, a good friend and energy worker made some recommendations as to homeopathic remedies that could serve to resolve the problem. Unfortunately, the ones recommended didn’t provide relief, so for a while I just gave up on homeopathy. This doesn’t mean that I don’t believe in its basic principles, because I surely do. For whatever reason, the suggested remedies didn’t work. A few months later I started doing additional research into homeopathy, including visiting various alternative healing sites on the Internet. From that search I identified a particular remedy called Pyrogen 200C that several people stated had enabled them to heal a tooth/gum infection. So, I figured I might as well give it a try. Once it arrived I used it for about a week and definitely saw the symptoms improve, but the issue was not completely cleared.
At this point Divine Providence arrived on the scene, and I was connected with an experienced Homeopathic practitioner (and certified regression therapist as well by the way) by the name of Barbara Kauffman. Barbara contacted me out of the blue via email with questions about an island in Greece that I visit regularly, and which I write a blog about. We became fast friends, and once I learned about her skills in homeopathy I filled her in on my healing odyssey, including the use of Pyrogen 200C. What I quickly learned from Barbara is that homeopathy is not really a healing modality that easily lends itself to self-diagnosis and prescription. Sure, there are homeopathy remedies sold at stores like Whole Foods and health food outlets, but it really is best to consult with an experienced homeopath since they are trained to ask all the right questions about the physical (or mental or emotional) problem in question. Sometimes the right remedy is one that treats a localized problem, while other times a constitutional remedy is required. And, without the assistance of a qualified homeopath you can actually take more of remedy than is needed, and the result could be a re-ignition of symptoms.
As the first step in the process of working with Barbara I was required to complete a lengthy questionnaire. It was very detailed, like an uptake form required for seeing a conventional doctor, only the questions weren’t anything like those one typically sees. Based on that information and a phone conversation with me, Barbara then prescribed a constitutional remedy she felt would bring me the greatest benefit. In that follow-up session she also mentioned that stress was a key factor in the situation, adding that dental abscesses (and other external abscesses) can actually be a sign of good health, as the body is actually trying to release pent-up emotions someplace (i.e., rather than going deeper into the significant organs it finds a release point).
I then ordered the prescribed remedy and took the dosage she recommended. Within a couple of weeks I noticed the situation had improved (recurrence of the abscess was taking place after about a week versus every day). About two months later I consulted with Barbara once again and she prescribed a stronger dosage of the remedy, and since taking that remedy the situation further improved. Based on this experience I highly recommend Barbara’s homeopathic consulting services, which she can provide on a remote basis via phone and email. Click here and you’ll be taken to the contact page of Barbara’s website.
Although this was very tangible healing progress, as yet another “layer of the onion” had been successfully peeled back; the reality was the infection persisted at a low-level. So, I felt compelled to continue my healing quest in earnest.
The next chapter of this odyssey will be posted later this month. Bye for now.
