The Wisdom of Chief Seattle

After nearly six months of not updating this blog (sorry about that) I felt inspired to make time to post something today. The following is a speech attributed to Chief Seattle that was supposedly given in the mid 1800s. It has a powerful message that is still as relevant today in my view.

The Wisdom of Chief Seattle

"My brother, I tell you true.

If all who see the Earth as being poisoned would, instead, give more attention to seeing the Earth clean and vibrant, then, very soon, your Earth would be cleansed.

If all who see their nation's leaders as misguided or uncaring would, instead, give more time to seeing themselves being represented by responsible, caring leaders who stand firm for the highest good of all, then, very soon, you would have good leadership.

If all who see their spouses or family members as troublesome or unloving would instead,
give more thought to seeing their loved ones as the shining children of God that they are, then, very soon, all challenged relationships would be renewed and love rekindled.

If all who see themselves as sick or poor or weak of heart or undeserving would, instead, give more energy to seeing themselves as healthy, abundant, empowered, worthy, and lifted up, then, very soon, they would experience all of the good things that life has to offer.

If all who see themselves as a physical body and no more would, instead, give more thought to seeing themselves as an ever-brightening star that resides inside the body, then, very soon, everyone in your world would be shining their lights just as all of the Elders who have walked your Earth have done. You would be living in peace, harmony, and comfort in a culture that you have created consciously, a culture which, by your divine right of birth, you deserve to enjoy.

Each challenge is there to guide you toward the desire of your heart
Each problem, seen from the positive side, always turns into a blessing
Each sorrow leads you to your joy
Each doubt – to your knowing
Each lack – to your abundance
Each debt – to your freedom
Each feeling of hopelessness – to your power
Each cry of pain – to your comfort
Each act of war – to your peace
Each act of anger – to your love

And each journey through darkness into the light."

Excerpt from Article: "How to Physically Heal Your Body"

A friend forwarded me a very interesting article about physical healing that I felt was very worthwhile to share. Below I've posted a portion of that article along with a link to the page where you can read the complete article. From a quick visit to the site it looks like a great information resource for anyone on the spiritual path.

How to Physically Heal your Body Today
Written by Jafree Ozwald and Margot Zaher
www.EnlightenedBeings.com

"Your body is an amazing healing machine that has automatic processes built into it to ensure that it maintains a state of perfect health. Science has found that your body's cells naturally regenerate themselves at different speeds, depending upon where they are located in the body. For instance, the cells of the eye take only 48 hours to regenerate themselves, whereas the cells of the liver take about 6 weeks to completely replicate themselves. In one year from today, your entire body will contain 100% brand new cells where you will physically not be the same person that you are today!

Now you may be wondering how can a person create or maintain any illness past one year if every cell in the body will be completely regenerated and brand new? Doctor Deepak Chopra asked the same question and through extensive research found an amazing discovery. The reason unhealthy cells continue to replicate themselves is because negative emotions from life experiences become chemically trapped in the cell causing it to "remember" itself to be unhealthy. The negative feelings in these cellular memories cause a healthy cell to replicate as "unhealthy" which leads to the perpetuation of an illness or disease.

"When negative emotion is dissipated our physical vehicles will vibrate in much greater harmony with nature and much disease will no longer consume man."  ~ J.J.  Dewey

Other scientists such as Candace Pert, Joseph Ledoux, and Elliot Drucker have also found that the chemicals caused from your emotions are stored within the walls of the cells.  They've found that when you express positive healthy emotions (such as love, peace and gentleness) the cell walls respond to these positive emotions and their communication receptors remain open, receptive and healthy. On the other hand, when a traumatic event occurs, chemicals called peptides flood into your blood stream and attach themselves to your cell receptors, hindering chemical communication from taking place. As long as the traumatic memory from these chemically blocked cells is not healed, they end up protecting themselves and cutting off healthy necessary communication with other cells in the body. Blocked communication of cells in the body eventually over time leads to the development of physical illness showing up in the body."

The Dangers of Habitual Worrying

Recently I read a book by John Selby called "Expand This Moment," which I found to be a wonderful spiritual growth resource. Here's a passage from it about "worrying" that I felt was really insightful:

"My experience is that, with a little bit of training, most people most of the time do have the power to just say no to their worries. Ultimately it's a matter of choice – and action. But please note that I'm not suggesting you try to turn off your primitive fear center altogether. There are times every day when it’s vital to respond to the wake-up signal of fear. And a certain amount of time spent imagining potentially dangerous situations can keep you from getting hurt. But almost always, habitual worrying about the future is dangerous to your health, for four reasons:

1. Every moment spent focusing your power of attention on an imagined future event is a moment when you’re not here in the present to deal with dangers that might appear right now.

2. When you're caught up in worry, your body reacts with a host of fear-based neurological and hormonal secretions that, if not released in immediate physical action, generate stress conditions that make you weak and dizzy, cloud your brain, and leave you unable to successfully deal with danger in the present moment.

3. When you're stuck in worry mode, your overall performance at work drops, your ability to relate successfully is reduced, and your capacity to feel compassion is lost. Both your company and your family suffer as a result – and so do you.

4. At deeper levels, anxiety prevents you from receiving insight, love, power, and guidance from your spiritual core. Your consciousness contracts, and you're all alone – which in turn makes you feel anxious and depressed.

To see these facts clearly is to evoke positive change in yourself."

Healing Related Passages and Musings on the Self-help Industry and Social Networks

Some elements of today's post are a bit different than past posts, as I get into some "musings" that are somewhat more personal in nature.

Healing Related Passages

The following passage is from an article entitled Set Yourself Free posted on the Winged Horse Healing Blog authored by my friend Pam Sourelis, who is both a Reiki Master and a gifted animal communicator.

"When you own a disease, you settle; you accept that the situation can never change, you cast yourself in the role of victim. You spend the rest of your life "managing" your illness, being its slave – heck, maybe even its lover. It embeds itself in your personality, and you begin to define yourself in terms of "your" illness, "your" disability, "your" addiction."

I highly recommend you read this entire post by clicking here.

The next two passages are from a book called Potentiate Your DNA by Sol Luckman. I have found this book to be a fascinating work, one that presents a solid case for the position that it’s time for the world to embrace a new paradigm as to how physical healing actually occurs, and which also specifically recommends what that paradigm should be.

"In the words of the creators of one of dozens of websites devoted to telling the ugly truth about vaccines, "The most effective marketing strategy on the planet is to convince the consumer that if he doesn't buy the product, he'll die!"

"Many reputable studies have offered convincing evidence based on historical data that in all probability, vaccinations actually trigger a rise in infections and death."

Musings on the Self-help Industry

As the author of a book related to spirituality, and as person who has read numerous books on that subject as well as personal growth related topics, I have the experience of being both a vendor and consumer of the self-help industry’s wares. As a consumer, I have clearly benefited from content developed by various authors and speakers. As a vendor, however, I can say wholeheartedly that the way business is being conducted in the industry as a whole is not congruent with the idea of being truly committed to helping people to completely heal.

Yes, I know, this is my judgment; nonetheless, I feel compelled to write about this because it's reached the point where the self-help industry is no different than any other business – it needs to keep customers buying in order to sustain itself. 'So, what’s wrong with that?’ one might ask? Call me a purist, if you will, but in my view the goal of the industry shouldn't be to have content providers focus on "growing their email lists" so they can sell more and more content to essentially the same segments of people.

In addition, in many instances the marketing appeals used are fundamentally rooted in fear-based tactics such as "limited time offers" and 25 page-long web pages that react to your choice to exit the page by automatically displaying a pop-up window that warns "Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page?" Honestly, whenever I encounter a page of that nature it completely sours me on that content provider. And yet, according to the Internet marketing experts, this is the most effective way to gather customers and sell one's books and other products. It's my sincere hope that someday soon self-help content consumers will see through this type of manipulative marketing, and refuse to purchase any product that is presented to them with this type of fear-based motivational appeal.

Musings on Social Networks

Social networks like Facebook and MySpace have become the hot marketing vehicles for just about everyone trying to sell something. In principle, I really like the idea of folks befriending like-minded people and enjoying the connections while perhaps also collectively doing something good for the world. That was a key reason I joined Facebook years ago. However, as those sites have become more and more marketer-dominant it's my sense that meaningful connections are not as common as perhaps they once were.

I mean really, can someone honestly have 100 "friends," meaning friends with whom they actually have more than just surface relationships? The reality is no human being has enough bandwidth to pay close attention to every wall post posted by 20 Facebook friends on a daily basis, let alone those posted by a hundred of them.

And as for Twitter, I do have an account on that site just to share the link to my daily "Ponder on This" message, but in my view it reminds me of an 8th grade dance where boys strut their stuff and girls bat their eyelashes, but few, if any, true heart-based connections are made. When I see someone is following "36,000 people" I chuckle, because it's literally and impossible to do that as there's not enough time in a day to read the daily Tweets of 36,000 individuals. I truly hope that over time something more substantive evolves from these networks.

Musings over, best regards to you and bye for now.

Pay Attention to Your Guidance - It's Always Present

Anyone who has been on the spiritual path for a while is familiar with the concept that guidance is always being given to us by Spirit (i.e., God, Higher Self, Angels, Spirit Guides). It’s just a matter of paying closer attention to the thoughts and ideas that come into our consciousness, and particularly to those that aren’t in the daily thought stream we’re accustomed to experiencing. Recently I had one of those “ah ha” experiences with respect to such guidance, and I want to take this opportunity to share it with you.

It first began with me following an inspiration in mid-January to visit YouTube and see if there was a video of an Alanis Morissette song she wrote in 1998 called “Joining You.” The tune is essentially about Alanis counseling a young woman who had been contemplating suicide. I had listened to that song recently, so it wasn’t as if there some “out-of-the-blue” nature to the guidance. Nonetheless, I promptly went on YouTube.com, searched on the song title and found there were several videos of it. For some reason, however, I was drawn to one in particular because the description said it included the song’s lyrics.

As it turned out, the video wasn’t actually of Alanis performing the song; it was a series of still shots that in some way related to the lyrics. It was a very powerful video that literally brought me to tears. As the song ended, I felt very inspired to share the link to it on my Facebook page and also on Twitter, so I posted it in both places. It is at this point where the story gets a bit more interesting, because a thought quickly came to me that I also needed to send this link to a friend from South America who is currently in living in Europe. For a moment I hesitated doing so simply because she’s a Facebook friend, and would have seen the link on my status page anyway. However, something told me it was important to also send her a Facebook message about this link. It wasn’t as if I had any sense that she was despondent and was contemplating harming herself, in fact, I felt nothing of the sort. I just had this feeling that for some reason she needed to have this information.

Fast forward to early February, and I receive a Facebook message from my South American friend that said the following: “The song you sent to me was a heavy one for the moment, I have being closely through the process of suicide of the brother of my ex-partner a few years ago, and right at that moment you sent it, I had been talking everyday on the phone with a dear friend back home, trying to help him out of the same desire.”

After reading that message my mouth dropped a bit, and I felt a bit stunned as to the timeliness of me sending that information to her. While I don’t know any more of the story of her interaction with the friend who was contemplating suicide, I do know that the whole process that led me to send that link to her cannot be coincidental. It really boggles the mind just how connected all of us really are, and, how guided we all are if we are just open to “tuning in” and following the guidance that is always available to us.

More on Quantum K Healing System

Several weeks ago I wrote a post about something called the Quantum K Healing System that a friend had told me about. Recently I read the entire Quantum K Healing Manual that’s available on the site for free, and I have to say I’m even more impressed with the theory behind this healing modality.

If you haven’t had a chance yet to visit the site and take advantage of the free healing page, then I highly recommend that you take the time to do so. If Quantum K is a bit too out there on the curve for you, so to speak, then at a minimum, I suggest taking the time to download and read Chapter 10 of the manual, which is called Naturopathic Steps, as it’s got some great health-related information in there. Here’s a direct link to the page that offers the free PDF file of that chapter.

A Beneficial Prayer to Say Prior to Eating

Recently I came across a very nice prayer to say prior to eating or drinking any type of food. For the life of me I can't seem to recall where I read it, but here it is:

"I give thanks and honor to the plants and animals I am about to consume, and I ask that the nutritional and vibrational levels in this food be raised to meet my body’s needs. I also ask that all negative energies and ingredients in this food be released from my body leaving it unharmed. Thank you!

If you're not eating or drinking an animal-based food obviously you can drop part of the above statement.

Using this prayer is actually similar to the concept of blessing one's food before it's consumed, and since it only takes a few seconds to recite these words, I highly recommend getting into the habit of using this prayer as a course of habit.

The Knots Prayer

A friend sent me the following within an email today and I felt it was very worthwhile to share!

Self-healing Resource: The Secret Language of Your Body

Recently a good friend suggested that I purchase a new book about self-healing by a woman named Inna Segal. I followed her suggestion and bought The Secret Language of Your Body a couple of weeks ago. While I don't like the title because there is no "secret" that anyone has been keeping from us, the book truly is a great resource. I'm guessing it was titled as such because the publisher is the same company that published "The Secret," and in their research I imagine they determined that people are drawn to learn about what is so-called "secret."

With that editorial comment out of the way, if you’ve ever read or heard of or read You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay, this book is similar in concept (i.e., illnesses and diseases are energetic patterns caused by emotional blockages). The difference is this book is a far more comprehensive healing resource as it’s packed with all sorts of valuable information and practical tools to use for self-healing. If you have any interest in this subject, I highly recommend this book. The following are the major sections in the Table of Contents:

I.     The Secret Language of your Body
       - Healing the Emotional, Mental, and Energetic Causes of Disease
       - Ten Basic Principles for Healing
       - A Guide to Physical Disorders and Suggestions for Healing
II.    The Secret Language of Physical Ailments
       - List of Ailments
III.     The Secret Language of Your Emotions
       - Understanding and Healing Emotions That Cause Disease
IV.   The Secret Language of Color
V.    The Secret Language of Your Body Systems

Here’s a quote from the book:

"You have the opportunity to work with thoughts, words, feelings, beliefs, vibrations, touch, movement, visualization, and breath to create changes in your body and in your life. Remember, pain and discomfort is your body’s way of communicating that you need to make changes. The more you are in tune with your body, the easier, more joyful, and more rewarding your life will be. You have the opportunity to tune into your own Divine Wisdom and receive all the guidance you require. This guidance is not only relevant to your health but to your relationships, your career, your mental and emotional well-being, and your spiritual expansion."

Healing Resource: Quantum K, Returning to our Original Blueprint

Note: "Ponder on This" subscribers please excuse the duplication with the posting of this information on this website as well.

Recently, my good friend Lisa, who is a very talented energy healer and a “Ponder on This” subscriber, copied me on an email about a very interesting website in the UK that she came across called "Quantum K – Returning to our Original Blueprint." She had taken advantage of a free healing experience on that site and had this to say about it: “I've done this a number of times, and am impressed by the energy shift/movement over a 48-hour period.” She wrote the email because she wanted to have a group of her friend experience it to see how they felt about it.

Since I am fascinated by the concept of alternative healing modalities, I followed her request and invested 23 minutes in watching the video on that page. I have to admit it was a very powerful experience, as I truly felt energy moving in my body while watching it. That was about two weeks ago and since then I’ve watched it two other times, and each time I experienced the same type of results. In addition, I downloaded the free PDF manual of the Quantum K experience and read it in its entirety this week.

It is important to emphasize that using this energy healing system requires one to be very open-minded, because the conceptual framework and underlying principles may be considered quite far out on the curve (it’s actually based on the combination of sound, color, fractal geometry, harmonics and symbols). With that said, from reading the manual and experiencing the free healing video I highly recommend Quantum K as a spiritual growth and healing resource. To visit the Quantum K homepage, click here. From there I recommend you read the Concepts and FAQs page, the Testimonials page, and then take part in the Free Healing Experience.

I sincerely hope you find visiting this site to be beneficial.
